Pam
Clingan has a 2.1 Bachelor of
Laws Honours Degree and a Music Degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, it was during her time at the Guildhall studying the Piano with Debussy Prize Winner John York, that she accompanied world renowned Bryn Terfel for an accompanist class, what a joy. Pam has ridden, bred, trained and shown Connemara ponies for nearly 40 years at Lanburn
Connemaras with father, Connemara Judge, Bob Blackburn OBE. She is about to complete her training as a Junior Judge with the CPBS, Ireland (photo right L-R Lord De Vesci, myself, Claire Oakes and Tom MacLochlainn).
Pam, ever involved in the Arts as well as horses since a very early age, be it drawing, painting, piano, violin, choral singing etc, was drawn towards the art medium of photography from an early age and given her first camera for her 10th Birthday. It was always an ambition to own a Nikon.
She has received training from 4 professional photographers and was given 2 sets of development equipment including a Leitz lens and started to develop her own photographs in 1985. In 1990 during her time at BBC Radio Broadcasting House, London as a Studio Manager, she was offered a 6 month attachment in the BBC Stills Department, made specifically for her based on the portfolio she presented. During this time she also did quite a lot of page turning for concert pianist Graham Johnson at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. She also worked on Desert Island Discs with Michael Parkinson and Sue Lawley presenting and later as a Studio Manager, where she met a vast array of celebrities including Rowan Atkinson, Michael Gambon, Lord Hailsham, Stephanie Beacham, Chris Evans, Jane Asher, Sandy Toksvig, Jenny Murray, Sandy Shaw, Alan Freeman and many more. Pam has been an Equestrian Photographer since 2004.
In 2006 she was Runner-up in an Annabel Williams Photography Competition, the first competition entered.
Carol Gilson was an inspiration in equestrian photography for Pam. Then more recently Jeannie Clark was there to nurture, encourage and advise her.
Many thanks go to Jeannie Clark (Equestrian Photographer), Simon John (Kodak Wedding of the Year), Heather Angel (Nature Photographer), David Woodards (Wedding Photographer) and the many others who have offered inspiration, encouragement and support.
